Mission Statement:

The Washington County Family & Children First Council promotes coordination and collaboration among county and local governments, non-profit organizations, businesses, schools and families in a manner which fosters wellness and self-sufficiency for families.

From the President ...

The Washington County Family and Children First Council, under difficult financial circumstances during 2009, continued to provide important services to many families throughout our county. The Council, made up of agencies, courts, parents, and community representatives, provides a great opportunity to allow for determining family needs of county residents and provides the forum for the exchange of ideas and information to solve many of those needs and help the staff coordinate needed services related to families.

Over this past year, Council and Staff committed to existing and new initiatives in keeping with core functions of Ohio Family & Children First and the mandates of Ohio’s legislative actions. The objective is to improve the well being of children and families in Washington County, thus Council is committed to a process of analysis and planning so that our mission will be carried out effectively now and in the future.

As you read the 2009 Annual Report, you will see the results of some of the Council’s partnerships at work. I hope the 2009 results will inspire you to become involved and that together we can celebrate many more successful years in the future.

What is Ohio Family & Children First?

Ohio Family & Children First (OFCF), established in section 121.37 of the Ohio Revised Code (ORC), is a partnership of state and local government agencies and community organizations committed to improving the well-being of children and families.  Enabling every child to succeed is the vision of OFCF.   This vision is accomplished by streamlining and coordinating existing government services for families seeking assistance for their children, the statutory mission of state and local FCF partners.
